Traditional Method To Cross A Larger River By Using A Ropeway

There are different modes of transport such as air, ship, and land transport. Ropeway is also a mode of transport for materials or people. It's used mostly in  mountainous areas or bridgeless rivers, where the carriers are hung from moving cables powered by a motor or sometimes it is being driven manually by the travelers.

People also use the ropeways to see some beautiful sceneries of the mother nature.

In the above video, I have filmed the people of Bai Kuenzang village while they were travelling to various places. They travel all the way from Bai Kuezang village and the most difficult part is that they have to cross a large river known as Wangchu. After crossing Wangchu, they use to travel to various places like Lhamo Zingkha, Jumja, Phuntholing town, Thimphu, etc., in order trade their farm products and buy their necessities. They have been using this ropeway for a quite long time back but today a long suspension bridge has been constructed where it bought a light of happiness to the people of Bai Kuenzang.

This ropeway was located at a place called Peeping, about 21 km away from Lhamo Zingkha toward the north. As the suspension bridge is now complete, people are no longer using this ropeway.
